Sleepwalking screen (Écran Somnambule)

Friday 6 June

With two performances Fri 6 June & Sat 7 June. The UK premiere of Latifa Laâbissi’s solo dance Écran Somnambule is a unique reinterpretation of Mary Wigman’s 1926 Witch Dance.

The visual arts programme looks at the flexible and often contested boundaries between sanity and insanity, centre and margins, visibility and invisibility.

Lawrence Abu Hamdan and Eva Kotátková

Tuesday 10 June

As part of acting out: the institution denied, artists Lawrence Abu Hamdan and Eva Kotátková respond to the context and history of the Anatomy Theatre with two new performances.

Film discovers the bodies, shapes, objects and forms that have represented anxiety throughout cinema history. They are recognisable figures who play out the history of our shared anxious fears.

The Lodger will be accompanied by an original live music score from the Guildhall school's electronic music studios. Part of our Fear of Fear film strand.

Communities explores anxiety by engaging with our understanding of where 'community' starts and ends. We invite you to explore the commonalities and differences that are part of the fabric of London.

Special rare documentary screening recording the filmmaker's seven-week stay in RD Laing's controversial Archway Community, testing Laing’s conviction that mentally ill people can only heal their shattered “self” in a space where they are free. Part of our Un-Homely film strand
